Bare Escentuals RareMinerals Night Skin Revival Treatment Review

Friday, 28 August 2009 12:32 by Jen

I applied this at night after my toner and I really liked how easy it was to use.  It went on easily and felt good on.  I did notice smaller pore size the next morning which was amazing to me and less oil throughout the day if I used this the night before.  I did quit using this the same time I quit using the blemish therapy product (see review) due to the awful breakouts.  I don't think this product caused the breakouts but my face was such a mess and now that I'm healing I don't want to risk trying this again.  I can definitely see how people are raving about this product.  It was the easiest foolproof product I've ever applied to my face.  It cut my nighttime routine in half.

Ingredients:  mica, corn starch modified, illite, barium sulfate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), zinc stearate, silica, soil mineral concentrate, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, phyllanthus emblic fruit extract, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), ectoin, honey bush extract, wheat extract, rosemary extract, white tea extract, roobios extract

Bare Escentuals RareMinerals Blemish Therapy Review

Friday, 28 August 2009 11:33 by Jen

I really liked the idea of this product...use the little brush and apply the powder to your blemish.  That part worked out fine.  So the problem came up about a week after I started using it.  When it arrived I read the packaging as I always do and checked the ingredients carefully.  There was one ingredient listed "Algae Extract" that I was worried about.  I had used a product with this ingredient about 4 years ago and my skin brokeout horribly in the biggest whiteheads I'd ever had but I was never sure that algae extract was the culprit.  Well, I knew it was the culprit a week after I started using this.  Every area I had applied this on my face was now covered in deep, painful zits.  Big zits, not little ones.  It took a trip to the face lady for a peel and about a week and a half to start looking better.  I now know algae extract and my skin do not mix well.  It just seemed so strange to me that a product called Blemish Therapy would include an ingredient with a comedogenic rating of 5 which is the worst rating an ingredient can get.

Ingredients:  sulfur 3.0%, zinc stearate, illite, barium sulfate, silica, willow bark extract, tapioca starch, soil mineral concentrate, kaolin, cyclodextrin, tea tree leaf extract, dimethicone/vinyl cimethicone crosspolymer, betaine, salicylate, corn starch modified, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tea tree leaf oil, emblica officinalis fruit extract, sophora angustifolia extract, algae extract, retinol, dextrin, hydrozypropyl cyclodextrin, maltodextrin, farnesol, niacinamide, magnesium myristate, calcium sodium phosphosilicate, mica, bismuth oxychloride, titanium dioxide

Schwarzkopf Color Save Silver Shampoo Review

Thursday, 20 August 2009 12:06 by Jen

I have medium dark brown hair with lots, lots, lots of bleach blonde highlights.  Often the highlights turn brassy and yellow and I've used many blue or purple hued shampoos to try and counteract this problem.  This shampoo does the best job by far.  I can enter the shower with yellowish highlights and exit with perfectly bright cool toned white/ash highlights.  My hair lady tells me this happens due to hard water (which I have) but since I've found this shampoo it's not a big deal.  I probably use it two times a week.  It's not easy to find but I did buy it at Ulta.

Ingredients:  water, sodium laureth sulfate, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, sodium chloride, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, glycol disterate, sodium benzoate, benzophenone-4, laureth-4, laureth-2, polyquaternium-10, coco-glucoside, glyceryl oleate, fragrance, carbomer, glycine, salicylic acid, cocamidopropyl betaine, propylene glycol, PEG-55 propylene glycol oleate, disodium edta, glycerin, citric acid, butylphenyl methylpropional, moringa pterygosperma seed extract, HC blue No. 2

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara Review

Thursday, 20 August 2009 11:47 by Jen

So I'm very picky about mascara!!  I want my macara to make my lashes longer (as in really really long!) and I hate when it clumps or flakes.  Flakes are not tolerable!!  I just tried for the last week the new mascara from bareMinerals and I really like it.  I usually know during the first application if I like a mascara or not and this one was no different.  As I was applying it I knew it was a winner.  I think it's two things...first the brush is like no other.  It's almost like a comb.  Secondly the formula makes my lashes extremely long but there's absolutely no clumping.  With other mascaras my lashes felt brittle or hard to the touch but with this mascara they feel conditioned and soft.

Color: Black

Paraben Free

Ingredients:  water, beeswax, stearic acid, diisosteroyl trimethylpropane siloxy silicate, acrylates/octylacryamide copolymer, candelilla wax, silica butylene glycol, cetyl alcohol, triethanolamine, jojoba seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, rhodochrosite extract, malachite extract, smithsonite extract, carnauba was, shea butter, tocopheryl acetate, caprylyl glycol, phenoxyethanol

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion Review

Thursday, 20 August 2009 11:40 by Jen

This is my daily go to lotion.  It's the one with blue on the bottle and contains natural shea butter.  I use it all over my body after showering and also on my hands many times per day.  I'm allergic to wheat so I try to be vigilant about a gluten free diet which would mean I probably shouldn't use this lotion since it contains many oat ingredients but I haven't found any other lotion I like more so I continue to stick with it.

Ingredients:  oat kernel extract, oat kernel flour, oat kernel oil, benzyl alcohol, shea butter extract, cetyl alcohol, distearyldimonium chloride, glycerin, isopropyl palmitate, petrolatum, sodium chloride, steareth-20, water

Burt's Bees Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub Review

Thursday, 20 August 2009 11:30 by Jen

I don't use this on my face I actually use it on my back in the shower daily.  Yes I have been blessed with acne on my face and occasionally on my back BUT if I use this scrub daily my back stays clear.  This was the first summer I could buy tops and dresses where my back was exposed because finally I found something that cleared up the "bacne".  It doesn't contain sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates which seems to be the key for me in staying clear.  Most cheaper (drugstore) washes contain SLS's and once I started using products that did not contain SLS's my back cleared up.

Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate Free, Paraben Free, Phthalate Free

Ingredients: water, grapeseed oil, stearic acid, vegetable glycerin, peach stone, coconut oil, sodium borate, fragrance, willowbark extract, glucose, chamomile extract, goldenseal extract, hawaiian gum, sucrose stearate, glucose oxidase and lactoperoxidase

Skinceuticals Daily Sun Defense SPF 20 Review

Tuesday, 18 August 2009 11:03 by Jen

I often, actually ALWAYS break out from sunscreen on my face so when I tried this one I was soooo relieved that it didn't make me a zitty mess.  I've been using it everyday for over a year and I'm on my second tube.  The first tube lasted  about 10 months of everyday use.  It does say moisturizing on the box but I have oily skin and it's not too heavy for me so don't let that scare you.  I've had a few facialists suggest I try this lines new SPF 15 with mexoryl but I checked the ingredients and listed were a couple of acne causing culprits so I'm sticking with the SPF 20.  Somehow when wearing this my skin looks better, I don't know how to explain it but it's just better.  I've worn this all afternoon at the beach and I don't get even a hint of tan on my face.

Ingredients: water, cyclomethicone, diisopropyl adipate, synthetic beeswax, hexylene glycol, PEG-40 stearate, polyacrylamide, C13-14 isoparaffin, beeswax, dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, PEG-20, carnauba wax, dimethicone copolyol, PVP/eicosene copolymer, sorbitan tristereate, propylene glycol, stearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, dilaurate, ceateary alcohol, stearaxytrimethylsilane, steareth-100, laureth-7, methylparaben, propylparaben, ehtylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben

Phytomer Eau Marine (alcohol-free tonic lotion) Review

Monday, 10 August 2009 15:10 by Jen

I chose this as my very first review because it's one of my favorite products.  I had a facial about a year ago and the "face lady" as I call her suggested this toner.  I had tried some toners in the past but never really stuck with any for the long haul.  I have oily skin and this feels great on and often times gives me enough moisture.  I'm really sensitive to how a product smells and this one doesn't bother me at all, in fact I like the smell.  I'm on my third bottle so it lasts quite some time since I use it twice a day.

Ingredients: water, propylene glycol, polysorbate 20, phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin, sodium citrate, fragrance, sea salt, cupressus sempervirens oil, origanum majorana leaf oil, rosemary leaf oil, horse chestnut seed extract, arnica montana flower extract, witch hazel extract, hypericum perforatum extract, grape leaf extract, citric acid, ivy extract, methylparaben, butylparaben, ehtylparaben, isobutylparaben, propylparaben, limonene, linalool, citral hydroxycitronellal, geraniol
