We all wish that we could find the fountain of youth that
would magically turn back the clock. The sad fact of it is that that just isn’t
going to happen. We can’t make wrinkles go away or the years fall off. However,
there are lots of preventative measures that we can be taking to keep ourselves
from aging prematurely. With the proper care and attention taken, skin and a
youthful appearance can be kept much longer than most people realize. If that
fails, or it is too late for you, there are however, surgical and laser
procedures that can turn back that clock. At least a little bit.
Many products promise to remove wrinkles or to defeat aging.
This can’t actually happen. What can happen is that some products will
moisturize or tone the skin to make it look a little younger, but the wrinkle
will still be there.
Exfoliating is an effective way to try and achieve a more
useful appearance. When we’re not exfoliating regularly the dead skin cells
from the top layer of our skin build up more and more, adding to an aged and
dry appearance. These dead skin cells have a tendency to build up emphasizing
wrinkles and age lines as well. Once you’ve been exfoliating properly for a
period of time you will notice your entire face having a more youthful
appearance as you expose the healthy new skin underneath. Our skin is in a
constant state of regeneration and it’s important to take advantage and display
the youngest and newest skin possible. Older skin looks exactly that, old.
Proper moisturization of skin is also very important in
preventing an aged look, or in reducing an existed one. We tend to associate
dry flaky skin with age and its effects and so keeping the skin supple and
lubricated can reduce the amount of that effect that we project to people.
The best way to KEEP your skin from aging prematurely is to
protect it from the sun. No matter how young or old you are, you can keep
yourself from aging visually in the times to come by immediately embarking on
an aggressive skin protection campaign from the sun. Nothing ages us so much as
the damage that UV rays cause to our skin and by wearing sunscreen constantly
we can preserve our present appearance for years to come.
Another way to look younger is to improve your general
lifestyle choices that affect our skin. What we eat and drink plays an effect
on the appearance our skin projects, so it’s important to eat healthy and drink
lots of water to maintain a youthful appearance.
If none of these are achieving the measures you are looking
for it may be time to research surgical procedures. There are a variety of
surgical and laser/light therapy procedures that have very successful results
in youthening the skin. Wrinkles can often be eliminated by surgery of various
kinds. Spotting and sun damage can in some instances see some improvement in
certain types of laser and light therapy as well. These are options that are
out there but should not be undertaken without careful consultation with your
family doctor beforehand.
There is no way to turn back father time and make ourselves
all look like we did ten years ago. There are however, a few ways to make our
skin look healthier and fresher which does give us a more youthful appearance.
Most importantly, there are many ways to keep ourselves from aging any more
than we already have, and those are important steps to take immediately in
anyone’s life, young or old man or woman. Proper diet and hydration along with
protecting ourselves from the sun’s rays wil
