Best Skin Care Bargains
It is easy to overspend on skin care products. With a new one hitting the shelf every week, it is tempting to buy each new product that promises fewer wrinkles and clean, clear, fresh skin. But you don't have to break your budget to get good skin. There are some old staples and newer friends that are budget friendly and will leave your skin looking great.
Dove Beauty Bar- At $1.49, this is one skin care bargain that can't be beat. It is extremely mild, so it is suitable for sensitive skin, and it has ¼ moisturizing cream, so it leaves skin soft and smooth. Dove Beauty Bar doesn't leave skin dry or tight, but it does lift dirt and oil. It is soap-free, making it appropriate for rosacea and eczema suffers. With all of this for less than $2, the Dove Beauty Bar tops the list of skin care bargains. It has been on the market since 1955.
Witch Hazel- When looking for a mild, gentle astringent, it's hard to beat the effectiveness and price of witch hazel. It removes all traces of make-up and cleanser residue that can be left behind. It is all natural, cheap and it can be used to fight acne, treat poison ivy and athlete's foot and speed the healing of cold sores. Witch hazel can be found at a variety of prices, starting at less than $2 for 16 ounces.
Oil of Olay- Oil of Olay Beauty Fluid has been a staple on store shelves in the U.S. for over 30 years. Many women swear by the pink fluid and even though Olay has expanded their line, one of their best sellers is still the familiar pink product that many of us first used in our teens. It is an effective moisturizer and skin protector and is now available in formulations for sensitive skin and formulations with sun screen. It has been renamed Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid, but don't be fooled. It is the same product that your grandmother used. It retails for $6.99
Petroleum Jelly- Known by the most popular brand name “Vaseline,” petroleum jelly makes an excellent moisturizer for extremely dry skin and calluses. It soothes chapped lips and can remove even the most stubborn waterproof mascara. It can also be used to treat chafing and rashes. It can now be bought with added scents and additives like shea butter, but nothing performs like the original, unadulterated petroleum jelly. Prices vary based on brand names and additives, but a 13 ounce jar of plain, store brand petroleum jelly can be found for $1.99.
