How to Apply Concealers Effectively
Concealers can be a woman's best friend, unless you don't know how to apply it properly. Concealers can cover acne, blemishes, discolorations, dark circles under the eyes, and just about anything else undesirable on the face. They come in tubes, sticks, and creams.
When applying concealer, choose a color that is one shade lighter then the foundation you are using. Be careful not to go too light because you will end up over emphasizing the blemish, which will create the opposite affect of what is desired.
There are four types of concealers, some work better for certain types of blemishes then others do. Liquid concealers, solid concealers, cream concealer, and powder concealers all work to cover imperfections in the skin, but which concealer works best may depend on what you are trying to conceal.
Liquid concealers are great for covering large areas of dry skin, such as circles under the eyes. Solid concealers work well for bruises, scars and pimples. Cream and powder foundation may serve as a concealer and it may blend more easily with the skin then the other types of concealers. When you are adding concealer, it will blend better if you pat it with your fingertips.
When using a powder or a liquid foundation, apply concealer after the foundation. But if it is a cream to powder foundation, applying the concealer first works better. Depending on the type of blemish, the concealers can come in different base colors.
White is used for dark circles and bruising. Green or blue can counteract a red patch or pimples, or even rosacea. Purple can perk up grayish skin tones to look brighter. Skin tones themselves are the most popular and are used at covering imperfections on their own, however, some women have found that concealers with a base color give added concealment depending on what they are concealing.
There are so many variations in concealers, that it can be tough making a decision about whats best for you, but with the facts, the decision gets easier.
