How to apply lipstick

Lips are a very attractive feature on the human face but how do we take advantage of this?  How do we make our lips look more attractive?  The simple answer is with lipstick.  But there is an art form to applying lipstick.  You do not just spread it over your lips and make sure it is not on your teeth.  No, you need to learn the correct steps to make your lips look desirable and sexy.

There are thousands of shades of lipstick and dozens of brands.  Some of the best brands are Lancome, Revlon, Maybelline and L’Oreal.  They are expensive but well worth the investment.  They come in a variety of colors so that you can pick the best shade and not have to settle for a color that is almost your color.  Likewise, these lipsticks come in a variety of forms whether it be the traditional stick form, gloss, lip wands, tubes and pencils.  They also offer a variety of looks using matte, frosted and cream shades.

While choosing a lipstick color, go for one that brings out your natural beauty.  Electric blue, Barbie pink and black normally are not colors that are going to draw attention to you in a good way.  Anywhere from a latte brown to a passive red are good colors.  For a more natural look, you should wear lighter colors and for a sexy color go for red.  Remember if the color looks good but is a little too strong you can always blot your lips with a tissue.  Also if you want your color to be a little more vibrant, and a clear lip gloss.

If you want the general rule to applying lipstick, here it is.  Following your lip line, use a neutral colored pencil to trace your lips.  Then, use a lip brush to paint your color lipstick onto your lips without going over the pencil line.  Afterwards, use your lip brush to blend the pencil and lipstick color so that it does not look like you are coloring in between the lines.

For a glam look, you can apply lip gloss.  Adding lip gloss to your lips will create fuller lips.  If you are looking to make your skinny lips plump, add lip gloss for an attractive glow.  If you have full lips and do not want to make them any plumper, avoid using lip gloss at all costs, even if you have lipstick on underneath.

For those of you have full lips like Angelina, use light and frosted lipsticks so that you maintain the fullness of your lips.  If you have dry lips, always apply a vitamin E based chap stick before applying your lipstick to create a smooth lip look.
