The importance of a proper and consistent skin care regimen
cannot be overstated. Improper skin care
has many side effects, none of which anyone really wants. Breakouts of acne can
occur, blocked pores resulting in blackheads, a tired, wilted appearance, and
premature aging are all possible results of not properly taking care of your
skin. Haven’t you ever heard someone remark on a other persons, “Healthy Glow”?
Well all that glow usually it is the result of proper and efficient skin car
used on a consistent basis. That means
it’s within the reach of anyone to easily look that healthy.
Several people think that skin care means washing their face
with their regular bar of soap and being done with it. While I guess that is
better than just never washing your face at all it certainly does have its
downfalls. The soap that you regularly find sitting in a shower is just meant
to get you clean basically. It can have side effects when used on the face such
as a drying or clogging effect. The fact of the matter is that soap is best
suited to cleaning your body with, and scientists and cosmetologists have come
up with many products which are better suited to cleaning the delicate skin on
your face.
Facial cleansers have come along way, and there seems to be
one out there for every type of person. First of all knowing what type of skin
you have will be invaluable in selecting a cleanser, and indeed, and entire
skin care regimen. Skin types are a broad topic for another article, but just
keep in mind that it is useful information to have. These facial cleansers have
been specially formulated to avoid leaving residue on the face, to avoid any
clogging effects, and to refresh and revitalize your facial skin, all the while
cleaning very effectively all the dirt and oils from your daily life away.
Next comes a toning agent of some kind. Many people that get
past the soap stage and on to an appropriate facial cleanser never take it any
further than that, and aren’t really benefitting as much as they could from a
whole routine solution. Toners will tighten and firm the skin. Despite the outrageous claims of many creams
and ointments to take away wrinkles, you can’t really make them go away, only
reduce their appearance. However, proper skin care earlier in life CAN prevent
those wrinkles from as easily forming in the first place.
Finally, there is moisturization. Moisturizing is so
important for your skin, as dry skin is unpleasant both to the touch and to the
appearance. Dry skin also can play a factor in the development of other skin
issues such as acne. Finding a good moisturizer that works well with your skin
will really complete your skin care collection.
You have to be aware that there isn’t a magic answer for
which skin care product will work best for you, it’s largely a product of trial
and error. A couple of tips though, are to not change to frequently. Pick a
line of products and stick with them, because it can take 4-6 weeks to see any
change. Also, the first two weeks your skin might actually get worse, simply
because it has taken a system shock. But stick with it to give the product a
fair shake before you move onto something else. Also, try to keep all your
products from a single skin care line. It doesn’t matter which one, that’s a
matter of personal skin chemistry and preference, but the products in a
singular line are usually formulated to work together. Most people think that’s
just a marketing gimmick, but the slightly different formulations can sometimes
cause unexpected results when mixed and
