Solving Dry Skin Problems

Many people complain about oily skin that breaks out, but what about those who have dry skin and are left with irritated flaky skin that just wants to feel its natural glow?  We will break down the factors that may be leading to why your skin is dry and also a few remedies to hopefully relieve you of your dry skin so that you can welcome a new, healthy glow.

We will start off with the causes.  Sometimes if you can just avoid these causes your dry skin will disappear and you will not have to go further trying to cure your dry skin.  The majority of dry skin comes from the air and how your skin interacts with it.  When the temperature is low and there is no humidity in the air, the skin often becomes irritated and dries out.  The other temperature driven dry skin cause, is when you are exposed to high temperatures and no humidity.  The skin dries up from the heat and because there is no humidity, the skin does not have the chance to re - hydrate making it dry.  This also means that anything that changes the humidity around you can cause your skin to dry out.  This includes central heating and air conditioning.  Even excess showering in hot water will create dry skin.  Normally when the lipids in your skin are stripped away this will create dryness because they are like natural moisturizers.  Harsh soaps used to clean skin can worsen this and create dry skin.

The basic rule to getting rid of dry skin is to HYDRATE.  You have to keep yourself and your skin well hydrated in order for dry skin to disappear.  There are a slew of moisturizers that are available for purchase but normally they are chemically enhanced and this is not recommended for your skin.  Try to keep it as natural as possible.  Some key ingredients to know that you are getting a natural product and know that it will hydrate the skin include these ingredients: lavender, sandalwood and Shea butter.  There are many herbs and oils that help moisturize but these are the best and they smell good too!

Face masks are a great remedy that should be used once to three times a week depending on the dryness of the skin.  They are not only a great remedy but also excellent to relax before going to bed or to help you wake up in the morning.  There are special fruits that will help you moisturize your skin that you can use as a face mask.  These fruits are banana, avocado, peach and papaya.  All you have to do is blend the fruit (You can even blend the fruits together if you would like to) and then spread it on your face.  Leave it there for a good 10 to 15 minutes then rinse it off gently and pat the face dry with a towel.  Oils that you can add for extra moisturizing and relaxation include rose water, honey, curd, olive oil and almond oil.
