Tomatoes and Strawberries and More: The Skin's Best Friend

Tomatoes have always been great in salads and on sandwiches, but on the face?  Yes.  Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A.  It also has cooling and astringent properties.

The Vitamin C helps the skin by clearing acne and making dull skin bright.  The Vitamin A is needed to build healthy skin.  Tomatoes also contain antioxidants which fight free radicals.

Tomatoes can be used to make everything from pore cleansers to acne treatment.  They are combined with everything from avocados to cucumbers.  One important thing to remember though is that Tomatoes are acidic.  This means that skin can become dry from too much tomato can dry the skin.  Make sure to add a moisturizer to your daily skin regiment if you use this luscious red fruit for its wonderful skin care properties.  Some say that even eating tomatoes can reduce acne.  So put it on your face, and in your salad for healthy skin.

Another fruit your skin loves is the strawberry.  This red beauty contains Alpha Hydroxy acid, which is great help in getting rid of dead skin cells.  Slicing a strawberry and then rubbing it directly on your face can give you smoother skin in just minutes.

Have problem feet?  Strawberries also help in getting rid of dead skin cells on the feet, so try a strawberry foot scrub before putting on those cute new sandals.  In addition to dry feet, strawberries also get rid of puffy eyes.  Try putting a few slices of strawberries under your eyes for a quick solution.

Apples also help the skin.  Chang Y. Lee of Cornell University found that apple phenolics, which are antioxidants, can protect nerve cells from neurotoxicity induced by oxidative stress.  So if your skin feels stressed, apply apples.

Cucumbers have often been seen resting on the eyes of the beautiful.  These vegetables are full of water and help cool the skin.  But they are also the same pH level as the skin.  Sitting with cucumber slices can help bring the pH level of the skin closer to normal.  It is the water and the pH level that helps with puffiness around the eyes.

So the next time you are looking for a quick skin fix, look no further then your kitchen cupboard or cabinets.
