Without even starting to address the hundred of product
lines that exist for makeup and skin care products we can still examine the
usefulness of using products from single line. It’s not necessary to name names
and point out that one brand is better than another, that is not what this
about. The important thing is to examine the value of using similar products
and be knowledgeable about what can happen when mixing and matching products.
The primary advantage to be gained by using one type of
products exclusively actually lies in the tiny differences in formulation
between various brands. Often when someone looks at the back of a skin care
product and see the phrase, “and for best results, follow up with our…” they
scoff and roll their eyes in annoyance at this marketing gimmick. It is a
marketing ploy, but at the same time it is a good idea.
The tiny chemical differences in the way different
manufactures make their products effect how these products work or don’t work
together. The top layers of facial skin
are in fact one of the most delicate parts of the body. When different products
are used in combination there can be tiny little reactions or conflicts taking
place at a chemical level within the products. These can have an adverse effect
on the sensitive facial skin and can aggravate a wide host of existing problems
such as dry or oily skin, or breakouts.
Sometimes mixing and matching products won’t have any bad
effects at all, but using products from the same line will have a benefit. As
stated earlier, these products are designed to work together, and sometimes
when you use an entire product line in tandem the way it is designed to be
used, you will notice better results from your product. It doesn’t really
matter which line it is, personal preference, budget, and your individual skin
chemistry will help you determine that. Try to stick to just one manufacturer
though and see if you can reap the benefits of their chemistry.
So, there are actual advantages to using products made by a
single manufacturer. Although there is certainly a marketing element to the
requests that products be used with similar other products, there is also a
ring of truth to sticking to a single manufacturer. Sticking to only one may
help avoid skin irritation, or achieve better results from your product.
