Using makeup formulated for your skin type

There are several different skin types out there, and each of them will react differently to any makeup that you apply. There are many products out there that are specially formulated to be used on each type of skin. It is advisable to take your skin type into consideration when buying any makeup in order to not cause any more problems than you may already have.

If you have skin that is sensitive and prone to breakouts you may have to try and experiment a little to find the products that work right for you. Yes, there are makeups out there for people with sensitive and acne prone skin, but in reality each person’s individual skin chemistry is so unique that you can never tell exactly what the reaction will be to a product until you have used it.

People with dry skin want to avoid using makeup that is formulated for oily skinned people as it can dry them out. They need something with a heavy moisturizing factor, not simply because it is good for their skin, but it will also make the makeup look smooth and attractive. Makeup not made for people with dry skin can have a tendency to show up as looking cakey or scaly and actually quite unattractive, as well as not being very good for the skin.

Oily skinned people should only use products made for people with oily skin. Most makeup tends to be a little on the oil heavy side and the use of that products on already oily skinned people can leave to breakouts from moderate to severe. Products made for oily skinned people are very light and made from oil free products that don’t leave a residue on the skin in order to not aggravate any skin problems you may already have from excessive oil.

There are products out there for combinations skin as well, but you may have to mix and match your products to get the exact right balance that works for you.  There are products designed specifically to work with your skin type whatever that may be. Don’t just grab the first thing you see on the shelf, if you take the time to read and buy what you are supposed to be using your skin will thank you for it in the long run.
