Resist the temptation to slip into bed after a long day at
the office or a long night out without washing of your make up first. The fact
of the matter is that there are numerous problems that can be caused if you
leave your makeup on overnight, especially if you do it on a consistent basis.
We spend so much time and money and effort trying to make ourselves look as
good as possible that it seems very odd to let a few extra minutes before bed
get in the way of something that can make all the difference in our skin
condition and appearance.
Failure to remove makeup before you go to bed for the night
has several consequences, and none of them are pleasing. Keep in mind as well
that these problems are only compounded the more often that you do this. One thing that happens is the makeup quite
often will clog your pores which will lead to breakouts or increased
sensitivity the following day. Also, it can have a very bad effect, especially
around the eyes, in drying out the skin. Drying out the skin around the eyes on
a consistent basis can lead to premature aging, and nobody wants that do they?
So, what to do then. It’s pretty simple and straightforward
really. You should start with a gentle eye make remover specially formulated
for working on that delicate and thin skin around your eyes. Don’t get any in your eye though. Once you’re
done that, you can use your regular facial cleanser to clean the skin and
remove the makeup. Warm water will help get the makeup off more completely as
well. Don’t be afraid to spend a little bit of time here, as the better a job
you do the more your skin will thank you.
Once you’re finished, be sure to apply some kind of a
moisturizer before you go to sleep to ensure that your skin stays hydrated
throughout the night.
Sometimes it just seems so convenient to come home and crash
right into bed. If you can take those few extra minutes though to make sure you
do a good job of removing all your makeup and properly moisturizing before bed,
your skin will last longer and retain its youthful looks for much longer than
if you just crash every night without taking the time to properly clean your
makeup off.
